The final stage uses field effect (MOSFET) transistors type MRFE6VP61K25N, designed to withstand high mismatch (SWR) at the output and intended for operation in aerospace, industrial, mobile, and radio broadcast applications.
The final PA stage uses a rugged LDMOS transistor – MRFE6VP61K25N or equivalent.
Compatible with all transceiver models available on the market – does not need any special signals: “ground on transmit” (PTT) and 40W of RF drive power is sufficient.

The very latest Amplifier from Acom, this is a real beauty with 1200W output and frequency coverage from 1.8 to 54 MHz.

With a five inch (108 x 65 mm) high resolution colour display, 800 x 480 pixels and 24-bits colours its easy to see what is happening.

The Acom 1200S is compatible with all transceiver models available on the market as it does not need any special control signals just ground on transmit with your PTT and apply 50W of RF drive power and it will work fine.

ACOM 2000A

Cutting-Edge Technology Enhances a Classic Design

At the core of the ACOM 2000A is a classic HF amplifier design, employing two Svetlana 4CX800A (GU74B) high performance ceramic metal tetrodes operating in a grid-driven configuration. This design was chosen for its inherent stability and extremely low production of spurious emissions. ACOM coupled this tried-and-true configuration with today’s most advanced digital control technology to create an amplifier with outstanding performance, features and reliability.

Clean Signal

Grid-driven tetrodes, cathode negative feedback, excellent transceiver loading (typically below 1.2:1 input VSWR), and regulated SG voltage result in an extremely low distorted output. Measured typical IMD are – 40dB (3-rd order) and – 45dB (5-th order). Classical Pi-L network, all-air coils (no ferrite), and carefully designed layout of the output tank offer typical harmonic emissions as low as – 55dBc (second) and below – 70dBc (third and above). Thus, probability of QRM, BCI or TVI is dramatically minimized.

Fully Automatic Tuning

The automatic tuning features in the ACOM 2000A represent a real breakthrough in HF amplifier design. Never think about an ATU for VSWR up to 3:1 (2:1 on 160 m). Matching the actual antenna impedances to the optimum tubes load is completely automated. Typically 1 second and no skill is required.

By completely eliminating time-consuming tune-up procedures, the ACOM 2000A has gives contesters a real edge. It is now possible to change bands without a moment’s thought. You can work every multiplier spotted using software point-and-shoot – regardless of band. And always know the amp is properly tuned and operating safely. The amplifier follows your transceiver’s band and frequency automatically in less than a second. No special cables are required. Just a dot on CW or “Ah” on SSB are enough.

ACOM 2000A

The ACOM 2000A breaks every amateur band into multiple frequency segments. The user can store up to ten (10) sets of tuning adjustments for every frequency segment – allowing individual settings for multiple antennas on each band. VSWR can increase considerably when an antenna is operated away from its resonant frequency. Unlike other amplifiers on the market today, the ACOM 2000 output matching network allows the amplifier to operate at full power, even with VSWR as high as 3:1 (2:1 on 160m).

QSK

Full break-in (QSK) based on a built-in vacuum relay. Transmit / receive switching sequence is secured by a dedicated microprocessor.

Remote Control Unit

RCU Size: 167 x 130 x 25mm (6-2/3″ x 5-1/8″ x 1″)

Only the Remote Control Unit needs to be placed near the operator. The main unit can be installed up to 3 meters (10 feet) away. RCU features include: amplifier status shown on LCD display, control of all functions, measuring and/or monitoring of the 20 most important parameters, on-board technical assistance, troubleshooting suggestions, record of power-on hours, password provided.

Easy Maintenance

The protection system makes damaging the amplifier a difficult job. Information on the 12 most recent protection trips is stored in an INFO BOX for remote diagnostics via phone line, PC, and Internet.

Easy to operate

The TRI is a powerful tuning aid that, together with the automatically controlled input attenuator, helps the operator to quickly and precisely match the antenna impedance to the optimum tube load impedance (5-10 seconds typically). The auto-operate function (when enabled) maintains the amplifier in the OPERATE mode for you, thus avoiding unnecessary manual operations.

No antenna tuners

No heavy outboard antenna tuners required for antenna VSWRs up to about 3:1. Your amplifier will enable you to change antennas virtually instantaneously and allow you to use your antennas over wider frequency ranges.

User-friendly

An amplifier that is both user-friendly and that looks after itself. It is designed to safely withstand up to 300W reflected power, up to 100 milliseconds duration of drive spikes, drive RF “tails” after a PTT or KEY release, operator’s inadvertent tuning errors etc. The amplifier also will not cease to function with a “soft” AC mains and will deliver more than half power at only 85% of nominal mains voltage. It can withstand voltage drops (down to zero Volts) for up to 10 milliseconds and can tolerate 15% mains voltage spikes, which is especially important on Field Day, during DXpeditions, and at portable operating events where emergency power is relied upon.

Three antenna outputs are selectable using a push-button on the front panel.

Easy maintenance

Data regarding amplifier internal status is stored in a nonvolatile memory for 7 of the most recent auto protection trips. This information can be forwarded to your dealer for diagnostics.

Virtually silent QSK

The input bypassing and vacuum antenna relays are virtually silent even in the CW QSK mode thanks to specially designed mounting hardware.

What’s an Off-Centre Fed Dipole?

A traditional Dipole is a half-wavelength radiator, fed in the Centre with two equal length legs, the Off-Centre-Fed Dipole is a Dipole whose feedpoint is at a point removed from the centre of the antenna.

A traditional dipole is fed in the centre with 50-ohm coax, or more correctly through a 1:1 balun, whereas the off-centre fed dipole is fed through a 4:1 balun.

Your AS-OCF-404 has a specially designed balun which offers both a 75-ohm and 200-ohm output allowing two pairs of elements to be connected. One set of elements is a traditional dipole for 4M (70MHz) and the other an OCF Dipole for HF & 6M.

Why Off-Centre Feed a Dipole?

By moving the feedpoint of the dipole from the centre to off-centre, we create a multi-band antenna with multiple resonant points. We also change the feedpoint impedance and therefore need a carefully designed balun to provide a match to 50 ohms.

A centre fed dipole is only resonant at one single frequency, the off-centre fed dipole is resonant on multiple frequencies.

Your AS-HF-OCF-404 has been tested for resonance and is resonant on the 40M, 20M, 17M, 15M, 12M, 10M, 6M & 4M amateur bands and needs no external ATU; you will need to
peak the antenna to resonance with your internal rig ATU.

The antenna also offers a reasonable match on the 30M amateur band but must be used with an external ATU.

By careful design of the balun and feedpoint of the antenna, your AS-HF-OCF-404 has the following resonant points from 0 – 100MHz:

Antenna Construction

Roll out the elements and hang the shorter bare copper elements for 4M below the HF elements using the spacers provided.
