RMDR (Reciprocal Mixing Dynamic Range) is the relative level of an undesired signal, offset “n” kHz from the RX passband, which will raise noise floor by 3 dB. The local oscillator phase noise will mix with strong unwanted signals and unavoidably generate noise which masks a wanted signal.

Audio Scope Function

The audio scope simultaneously shows an oscilloscope and FFT for receive and transmit audio. Adjust your transmit audio by watching your compressor level, equalization and mic gain settings to give you the audio you want for SSB. The oscilloscope shows the CW waveform. On receive, you can see the power of your filtering by watching filtering adjustments take out interfering signals including filter width and notch filter placement. The processing power in the IC-7851 allows for dual mini band scopes as well as the audio scope.

While you can watch both receivers on the scope of the IC-7800, within the limits of the scope bandwidth, the IC-7851 introduces the new dual scope – the ability of watching both receivers in separate spectrum scopes. The dual scope function is vital for watching for multipliers or band openings in contests, or working all bands/modes on a DXpedition.

High Resolution Spectrum Waterfall Display

  • The waterfall display captures signal strengths over time. This allows you to see signals that may not be apparent on a normal scope. Additionally, the combination of the scope attenuator and the wide screen mode gives you a better view of weaker signals as band conditions change. For the ultimate scope enhancement, the IC-7851 has a digital video interface (DVI-I) for a larger display.

  • The preselector works between 1.5MHz and 30MHz and rejects distortion componentsderived from out of band interference such as multi-multi operation or strong broadcast stations. It automatically tracks the intended signal keeping the preselector’s bandwidth centered on the operating frequency. Dual AGC Loops

The IC-7851 has multiple AGC loops. The AGC voltages detected in front of and behind the digital IF filter in the DSP unit. The first AGC loop prevents saturation of the 1st IF amplifier. The other AGC loop detects the AGC voltage at the digital IF filter output which has only passed the intended signal and draws the full potential from the digital IF filter. Combining the digital IF filter, manual notch, and the 1st IF stage, these are all controlled by the DSP unit. 110dB of ultra wide dynamic range in the receiver means the IF amplifier is distortion free from strong signals.

Image Rejection Mixer

Simple receiver system configuration is the best way to eliminate sources of the spurious signals and distortion from transceivers.
The IC-7851 uses a double conversion system composed of a D-MOS FET 1st mixer and image rejection mixer for the 2nd stage. The 1st mixer stage is driven with a signal from the highdrive Local Oscillator with excellent C/N.
The image rejection mixer for the 2nd stage reduces signal distortion through IF processing and provides a high-fidelity signal to the DSP unit. This system provides wide dynamic range, reducing the distortion from strong signals and lower intermodulation.

High Performance OCXO Unit

  • The IC-7851 uses the OCXO (Oven Control Crystal Oscillator) unit which is stable to within ±0.05ppm at 0°C to 50°C. This specification means that even on the 50MHz band, frequency error is less than 2.5Hz! In addition, a 10MHz reference frequency can be input and output for accurate tuning.

Dual Receivers

The IC-7851 incorporates two completely independent receivers, from the antenna inputs all the way through to the stereo headphone and individual external speaker outputs. All the performance of the first receiver is duplicated for a perfectly matched set of “Twins”. When connected to external stereo headphone, main and sub receiver audio can be mixed or separated to the right and left.

RTTY/PSK31 and PSK63

RTTY, PSK31 as well as the new PSK63 modes are available at your finger tips without the use of a computer. Digital Manual Notch

HF operators marvel at how well DSP reduces interfering signals and noise. Signals such as heterodynes and AM Carriers can be eliminated with automatic notch filter technology.
Making interference from RF sources such as beat signals and RTTY signals is a thing
of the past. Additionally, the filter shape of the manual notch can be adjusted in three steps – with more than 70dB of attenuation!

Digital Twin PBT (Passband Tuning)

Once the IF filters have been “tweaked,” the operator has additional control with the digital twin passband tuning (PBT). The digital twin PBT allows flexibility of both the IF shift and narrowing of the digital IF passband by moving the IF passband. With the digital IF filters, PBT performance allows you to cut away all the interference and noise to hear the actual signal.

Variable Level Noise Reduction

The digital noise reduction separates a target signal from noise components and noise suppression level is variable in 16 -steps, depending on the noise level. The low latency digital noise reduction is achieved by applying an adaptive filter using the high speed DSP computing power.

New Auto Digital Noise Blanker

While most noise blanker reduces pulse type noise, the IC-7851 introduces a new automatic digital noise blanker circuit. While using the 15/9/6kHz roofing filters, the digital noise blanker gives you full control. When the 1.2kHz Optimum Roofing Filter is activated, the best blanking level is automatically selected. Additional adjustments allow you to tweak the threshold level, blank time and attenuation level parameters.

Digital Transmit Bandwidth(TBW) and Audio Equalizer

With the flexibility of DSP-based waveform shaping, transmit and receive audio quality is adjustable to suit your preference. Three user-adjustable transmit filters, Wide/Mid/Narrow, allow you to set both the low and high cut-off frequency limits. (100, 200, 300, 500Hz for lower and 2500, 2700, 2800, 2900Hz for higher frequencies.) In addition to the TBW filter, the IC-7851 has an equalizer to digitally tweaks your transmit audio with separate bass and treble controls (11 steps each for bass and treble). The receive audio can be tailored with modespecific Bass/Treble or audio passband settings.

Digital RF Speech Compressor

The DSP controlled RF speech compressor provides additional punch while maintaining the original tone quality of the operator. The IC-7851 utilizes the 32-bit DSP for the RF speech compressor, providing the maximum punch without the fuzzy sound. It’s great for breaking through the noise and hash to complete the QSO.

Memory Keyer

For CW, the memory keyer has timesaving functions like auto repeat, contest serial number counter and short Morse number functions. For phone operation, you have a voice-saving auto repeat function.

The automatic antenna tuner utilizes tunesetting memories to record the best tuner configuration for the lowest SWR. This allows a faster response time when jumping bands or moving around in the same band.

Internal Antenna Switch

With six antenna ports – two receive-only and four receive/transmit – the IC-7851 enables the operator to have fingertip control over a vast array of antenna configurations. Switch to 80/160m and you want to use your beverage
antenna for receive, but transmit on your vertical. Not a problem: the antenna switch
memory will automatically switch antennas when you select the band you want to operate.
This is very convenient when using the RS-BA1 for remote base operation.

Enhanced PC Connectivity

The IC-7851 has various computer interfaces, giving you maximum connectivity between your computer and radio. Digital modes become a snap when controlling with the USB port. USB audio and some CI-V commands including USB send (DTR/RTS) and USB keying (CW and RTTY) are selectable. You can also interface your computer with the S/P DIF optical digital interface provides audio I/O.
The Ethernet jack allows you to connect the IC-7851 directly to your router and control your radio over your wireless Internet, or travel the globe and operate your station remotely over the Internet.

Firmware Update Capability

The IC-7851 can grow as feature and function enhancements become available via the USB or your SD Card.

Simplified Remote Control (Optional RS-BA1)

Remote base operation is made easy as the IC-7851 operating system incorporates

EASY START GUIDE

Read all the information in the manual leading up to this point,then use the below

Instructions to start using your tuner.

Set CAPACITOR to ’2’ and INDUCTOR to fully counter-clockwise (’0’) and the center

Switch to BAYPASS.

Turn the center switch to the LOW Z 1 position (immediatly to the left of BAYPASS)

Apply 30 to 50 watts of transmitter power and note SWR show non the meter.

Unkey the transmitter and then move the switch to the HIGH Z 1 position. Apply 30 to 50

Watts or less transmitter power and note SWR show non the meter. Depending on wich of

the HIGH Z 1 or LOW Z 1 settings showed a lower SWR, try more positions on the same side to see if the SWR is lower. Choose the position among all switch position that shows lowest SWR.

Adjust the capacitor for lowest SWR. Then turn the roller inductor clockwise to a higher

setting and note if SWR changes. If SWR drops adjust the capacitor for a lower SWR

Value. Go back and forth between these two controls adjusting them for best match and the lowest available SWR.

If the capacitor shows best meter null (lowest SWR) at a setting of ’0’ turn the center switch

to the other side of BAYPASS.

If the best meter null (lowest SWR) is with the capacitor at ’100’ turn the center switch to

the next higher position.

It possible depending on your antenna and the frequency in use that a good’starting’ match may not be readily apparent (i.e. all starting positions ont he center switch show a somewhat high SWR).

Try adjusting the roller inductor and/or capacitor to a higher initial setting and repeat the

same instrictions if this the case.

WARNING:

While all the components of the DU 1500 L are rated to easly handle continuous duty

operation at full rated power, do NOT adjust the antenna tuner when runnung high

Output power. Adjust the tuner lowest SWR at less that 50 watts and then enable your

linear amplifier. High circulating currents are present when high power is applied to

the tuner adjusting the tuner controls for lower SWR while running high power through

the tuner can damage the unit.

WARNING:

In normal operation the DU 1500 L produces very high RF voltages and currents.We

do not recommend operation of this without the top cover securely installed due to the

danger of contact with high voltage.

Always be sure that a dummy load or antenna is properly connected when power is applied.

Voltages in excess of ratings can occur if no load is connected.

INSTALLATION

Select a location for the DU 1500 that allows the connectors to be free of any possible contact during operation.

 

WARNING: SOME BALANCED OR END-FED ANTENNAS WILL PRODUCE HIGH RF VOLTAGES AT THE FEEDTHROUGH CONNECTORS. RF BURNS MAY RESULT IF TOUCHED DURING TRANSMISSION.

 

INSTALLATION PROCEDURES

  1. Connect a coax cable from your transmitter or receiver to the RF INPUT connector on the rear panel. Keep the cable as short as possible. If you use a linear amplifier, connect your transmitter to the linear amplifier output to the DU 3000.
  2. Connect coax cable(s) from your antenna to COAX 1 or COAX 2 connectors on the rear panel.These connectors are either direct from the transmitter or trough the tuned circuit depending on the setting of the OUTPUT SELECTOR switch on the front panel.
  3. If you are using a balanced feed antenna, connect the INSTALL JUMPER in the COAX 1 connector and switch band switch TUNED COAX 1.
  4. If using a single wire antenna, connect it to post COAX 1 without installing jumper.
  5. Connect a dummy load to the BYPASS CONNECTOR using a coax cable.

This lets you select the dummy load from the OUTPUT SELECTOR switch. Any antenna that does not require the use or fan antenna tuner may be connected to the BYPASS connector, if desired.

 

BEFORE OPERATION

  1. To avoid possible damage to the DU 1500, set INPUT, OUTPUT, BAND SWITCH and POWER RANGE switches as outlined in the next section before applying transmitter power.(Tuning Section)

 

  1. Begin tuning with your transmitter set to a low power setting (~50 w is more than enough)

 

WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE THE DU 3000 WITH THE COVER

OFF!

 

NOTES

  1. An SWR or 1:1 is best, but an SWR as high as 2:1may be acceptable. Check you transmitter manual for details.

 

  1. If you cannot get an acceptable SWR, lengthen or shorten you antenna and/or feedlines and retune.
  2. If you get low SWR readings at more than one setting,use the setting that:

 

Gives the highest FORWARD power reading.

Gives the lowest REFLECTED power reading.

 

Uses the largest capacitance (highest number) on the TRANSMITTER and ANTENNA controls.

 

  1. Any time a new or different antenna is connected, it is necessary to repeat the tuning procedure for each antenna.

 

OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

The followings set of instructions will allow the operator to quickly place the DU 1500 L into

operation.Included are descriptions of the fromt panel controls and their functions.

This is followeed by instructions for antenna matching and selection,and a brief discourse on antenna systems matching thery.

(1)CAPACITOR

This control connects to tje variable tunung capacitor used as one of the elements in the

L type matching network.This capacitor has a tuning range of 40-500pF and is continuous tuning with no stops.

(2)INDUCTOR

This control is connected to the roller inductor,another element int he L type matching network.This inductor has a tuning range of 0,2-18uH which is coveredin approximately

30 revolutions of the control knob.A gear reduction system behind the front panel of the

DU 1500 L is connected to a concentric skirt turns counter numbered 0-29 in 180 degree

Arc over the top of this control,to make returning to earlier settings easier and quicker.

(3)IMPEDANCE SWITCH

This 11 position rotary switch is used to change the configuration of tuning network

For matching eitherhigh or low impedance antenna systems.This switch also selects

Additional capacitors as needed for matching at lower frequencies.When placed in the

12o’clock position,the tuner is connected to the BYPASS configuration and the

network has on effect ont he transmission line systems(antennas are fed through directly from the transmitter to the antenna without use of the tuner.)The SWR and power metering remains usable even when this switch is set to BAYPASS.

The purpose of this switch is to set the capacitor either across the input or across the antenna,

Depending on whether a load of above or below 50 ohms is trying to be matched(reverses the

L network).

(4)ANTENNASELECT KNOB

This 3 position switch is used to select one of up to four antennas conected to the rear panel

Of the DU 1500 L and correspond to theCOAX1,COAX2,COAX3 connectors.

(5)METER

The meter on model DU 1500 L dual crossneedle SWR and wattmeter.

Forward power output ismeasured on the right-hand needle,left-hand scale.

Reflected power is read on the left-hand needle,right-hand scale. SWR is read

by reading the point at which the two needles cross on the red scale lines on the

face of the meter.

Power output is read in switchable scales of 200 or 2000 watts.

The power scale switch is used to set the power output metering to scales of either

Six keys that are used frequently in normal operation are located at the left side of the TFT display.
Other functions can be operated by pressing the “SCOPE” key which changes the “Spectrum Scope screen” to “Function Key Display screen”.
Even if the radio is turned off, the last operated Key Function is memorized and highlighted.
• Spectrum Scope.
The FT DX 1200 has a standard automatic sweeping high speed spectrum scope in line with dial operations.
The spectrum scope function that allows for an instant view of the signals, their strengths and distribution within a band is supplied as standard. The spectrum scope sweep function has two modes available: the normal mode, where the band is swept once when the SELECT button is pressed, and the AUTO mode where the band is automatically swept at preset intervals.
No receive audio is generated during sweeping, but as sweeping is done at an extremely high speed this is a brief instant of approximately 300 msec.
If the operator quickly operates the main dial to make a big frequency change in AUTO mode, an automatic sweep is performed and the display is refreshed.
Yaesu FT DX1200.
This enables frequency tuning while checking the spectrum in real time.
The moment tuning is halted the receive frequency audio is resumed; as no sweeping is performed during slow frequency changes to tune in to another station, there is no interruption to the receive audio.
Operation therefore feels natural and is without stress.
Additonal scope features include:
1. Six different options: 20 kHz, 50 kHz, 100 kHz, 200 kHz, 500 kHz and 1 MHz.
2. TX and RX markers are displayed in the spectrum scope, enabling the user to confirm the relationship between the receive and transmit frequencies at a glance.

This is particularly useful in the case of split operation.
3. Full TFT screen signal spectrum can be viewed in detail by simply pressing the SCOPE key.
• Optional FFT-1 Unit provides the following additional features:
1. AF-FFT (Audio Frequency Fast Fourier Transform) scope.
This AF-FFT function was first demonstrated in the FT DX 9000 series.
With this Scope, the audio characteristics of the received signals; the effect of adjusting the RX IF filter performance; and utilizing the QRM rejection features, may be visually observed.
It is also possible to observe the TX audio characteristics of your own signal while using the Monitor function.
This is very effective for tuning the parametric equalizer for voice characteristics and the microphone audio.

Superior Triple Conversion Receiver.
The FT DX 1200 high performance triple conversion receiver circuit structure enables elimination of unwanted signals through filters at each stage as well as optimized gain distribution.
Top Performing Receiver RF Front End.
The receiver front end is exposed to strong signals directly from the antenna.
Yaesu engineers carefully selected and tested active elements like the RF amplifier, but also passive circuit components and coils, so that no spurious or unwanted signals are created.
By pressing the ATT key on the front panel, the operator picks from four selectable stages of attenuation to attenuate interfering strong signals. The effect of strong out of band interfering signals on the RF amplifier is further reduced by significant attenuation through 8 band pass filters in the FT DX 1200 .
Effective QRM and QRN Rejection.
Effective QRM rejection is achieved from the FT DX 1200 IF DSP.
The 32-bit high speed floating decimal point DSP, TMS320C6727B (maximum 2800 MIPS/ 2100 MFLOPS) made by Texas Instruments, is used for the IF section of the FT DX 3000. The signal is processed with the high speed 300 MHz clock frequency.
• Proven IF WIDTH and IF SHIFT functions provide great QRM rejection performance. 
IF SHIFT. 
With the normal bandwidth, the pass band area can be moved relatively, so that harmful signals are rejected from the pass band.
IF WIDTH.
By adjusting the band width, Interfering signals can be removed from both sides of the pass band, without changing the pass band position.
The IF width function can make the pass band narrower with one-touch.
This function is effective in a pile-up or contest, when the undesired signals are located just above and below the target signal.
• CONTOUR .
The CONTOUR function ideally tailors the received audio signal without changing the bandwidth.
The CONTOUR function varies the outline of the IF DSP filter pass band characteristics, and the in-band signal construction can be partially altered.
Different from the IF SHIFT or IF WIDTH, the special CONTOUR pass band, can reduce or peak the desired signal, partially and continuously across the pass band. This feature is effective especially when the undesired signal is close to the center frequency.
• Digital Noise Reduction (DNR) by DSP. 
The installed digital noise reduction circuit provides 15 separate parameters.
The noise reduction constants may be set to the optimal working point by varying the 15 step parameters according to the actual noise within the
Yaesu FT DX1200 .
HF band.
The desired signal components are peaked and the random noise components are effectively cancelled.
• IF NOTCH. 
This high Q circuit has steep attenuation characteristics of 70dB or more. Effective removal of a strong beat signal is obtained.
The damping characteristics can be switched to wide or narrow band width, and the attenuation level may be adjusted in the Setting Mode Menu. Interfering signals may be attenuated, while minimizing the impact on the received signal.
• CW APF (Audio Peak Filter)
In the CW mode, the APF (Audio Peak Filter) function has an audio peak at the signal frequency; this improves the S/N and increases the readability of the CW signal.

The APF peak frequency can be finely aligned.
Selectable Roofing Filers.
Roofing filters of 3 kHz, 6 kHz and 15 kHz filters are fitted before the 40.455 MHz 1st IF.
These filters reduce the later burden on the receiver mixer and improves the adjacent multi signal characteristics.
Very Low Noise Floor – Terrific Signal to Noise Ratio.
The S/N ratio (signal-to-noise ratio) of the local signal that is injected into the 1st IF mixer is one of the most important factors for improving the receiver properties in the ultra-multi-signal environment.
Yaesu FT DX1200 .
In the FT DX 1200, the combination of it’s high stability and high accuracy 40 MHz TCXO (± 0.5ppm, -10 °C ~ +60 °C), and it’s DDS create the fundamental frequency of this radio, and is locked to the PLL-IC and VCO directly.
This circuit construction and method creates the highest quality local signal, with superior S/N performance.
Three IPO Settings – Best Signal Reception During Changing Band Conditions.
3-step IPO settings permit the operator to select the most appropriate gain for best signal reception. This variety of selections provides superior receiver performance and the best possible communications with changing band conditions. The IPO (Intercept Point Optimization) is selected by a control switch located on the front panel.
The IPO selection determines the gain of the RF amplifier.
The gain setting is very effective in optimizing the receiver performance, depending on the antenna and the communication propagation conditions.
The IPO, the ATT and one stage of the RF amplifier are used to optimize the signal levels that are sent to the mixer.
High Quality Audio With Punch.
The modulation circuit of the FT DX 1200 utilizes digital variation operational modulation, which creates ideal high quality transmission audio.
• Microphone Amplifier that includes Parametric Equalizer. 
The modulation circuit of the FT DX 1200 utilizes the digital variation operational modulation type, which creates ideal high quality transmission audio.
This radio has a parametric equalizer that makes possible versatile adjustment of the TX audio quality by aligning the TX band audio spectrum. The parametric equalizer can alter the Low, Mid and High part of the audio separately.
This three stage parametric equalizer can generate high quality TX audio sound because it can be tuned in detail…without sacrificing the audio dignity.
• IF DSP Speech Processor – DX’er and Contester Proven. 
The SSB Speech Processor uses IF digital signal processing to increase the intelligibility of the transmitted signal during weak signal crowded conditions.
The DSP increases the average power of the important speech spectrum components and reduces the TX power of the less significant components.
Adjust the compression level in the Menu Mode to adapt the transmitted SSB signal to best suite your voice characteristics, the situation, propagation conditions and pile-up demands.
Two Antenna Inputs.
Two antenna connectors are available on the FT DX 1200 Rear Panel.
• Having multiple antenna selections is an especially effective feature for DX and Contest operating.
• Antenna connection selections memorized and recalled when changing bands.
• It is possible to use Ant 1 for transmit and Ant 2 for receive.
For the CW Enthusiast.
CW Zero-in Display. 
The TX CW side tone pitch frequency can be adjusted in the MENU. The setting range is 300 Hz to 1050 Hz. This tone pitch is used as the reference in transmission.
This means that the point, at which the TX pitch is equal to the RX pitch, becomes the zero-in point.

In addition, the FT DX 1200 has a CW tuning display feature.
By using this function, as the pitch of the sound that is heard when receiving the CW signal becomes closer to the programmed pitch, the lighted mark moves closer to the center of the display.

When the center mark light turns RED, the signal is at the zero-in point.

A large diameter with an adjustable ferrite magnetic material (Ni-Zn ferrite) core, is combined, with a high resolution and high torque stepping motor to automatically find the resonance point.
By inserting these tuning units prior to the RF front end of the receiver, the IP3 points are improved by around 4 dB. Three individual tuning units are available covering frequencies from 1.8 MHz through 14 MHz. Many FT 950, FT 2000/D, FT DX 3000, FT DX 5000 and FT DX 9000 Yaesu customers have used them and found them especially effective for use on the Lower Bands.

Add over 45 years of analogue RF circuit expertise and the result is the Icom IC-7600, a new rig with outstanding performance and a multitude of innovative features including a newly employed double conversion superheterodyne system and dual DSP units and 3kHz IF (roofing) filter.

This promotion will emphasise this capability and encourage CW/phone enthusiasts to try this method.
Dual DSP for transmit/receive and spectrum scope
The Icom IC-7600 is powered by two 32-bit floating point DSP units for Transmit/Receive and spectrum scope. The DSP units provide high performance comparable to Icom’s top-of-the-line transceivers IC-7800 and IC-7700. The Icom IC-7600 achieves similar performance for high speed digital signal processing combined with Icom’s analogue RF technologies.

104dB dynamic range and +30dBm third order intercept point (IP3)
Icom’s long years of analogue RF circuit experience combined with the latest digital technology results in an astonishing 104dB receiver dynamic range and +30dBm IP3 in the HF bands without sacrificing to the receiver sensitivity. Even a weak signal adjacent to strong signals is received by the Icom IC-7600.
Double conversion superheterodyne dramatically improves inband IMD
The Icom IC-7600 employs a double conversion superheterodyne system, which has an image rejection mixer for the 2nd mixer stage. When compared to the triple conversion system, the double conversion system is technically difficult to achieve a stable mixer operation but it dramatically reduces signal distortion through IF processing and provides a high-fidelity signal to the DSP unit. As a result, the Icom IC-7600 provides a clearer, more distinct signal.

The AGC loop management controlled by the DSP unit
The Icom IC-7600 detects the AGC voltage from the signal which has passed the digital IF filter. That means the Icom IC-7600 prevents the AGC blocking from a nearby strong signal to bring out the full potential of the digital IF filter. The digital IF filter and manual notch filter are also processed in the AGC loop.
Three 1st IF filters, including 3kHz bandwidth
The Icom IC-7600 has three 1st IF filters (roofing filters) in front of the 1st IF amplifier stage. You can select an appropriate filter width from 3kHz, 6kHz and 15kHz filter depending on operating mode. (15kHz fixed for FM mode). The 3kHz 1st IF filter protects the subsequent stage from the influence of nearby strong stations.
Digital IF filter
Icom IC-7600 incorporates the ‘build your own’ filter feature. This allows the operator to adjust filter shaping (sharp or soft), filter bandwidth, and centre frequency characteristics, without missing the action. Multiple filter memories store the last used filter settings by used operation mode. This allows the operator to quickly switch filters for constant operating conditions, such as in a contest.
Digital twin PBT
Once the IF filters have been tweaked, the operator has additional control with the digital twin Passband Tuning (PBT). The digital twin PBT allows flexibility of the IF shift and narrowing of the digital IF passband in moving the IF passband. With the digital IF filters, PBT performance allows you to cut away all the interference and noise to hear the actual signal.

Digital manual notch filter
Signals such as heterodynes and AM carriers can be eliminated with automatic notch filter technology, making interference from RF sources such as beat signals and RTTY signals a thing of the past. Additionally, the filter shape of the manual notch can be adjusted in three shapes, with more than 70dB attenuation.

Noise reduction
The 32-bit DSP processing power produces real results by separating a signal component from the noise with the 16-step variable noise reduction. By suppressing the noise components, an outstanding signal-to noise ratio is achieved, providing clear, clean audio in all modes without distortion of the target signal.
Noise blanker
The noise blanker reduces pulse noise such as engine ignition, with the fully adjustable 100 steps noise blanker.
Dualwatch function
The dualwatch function allows you to receive two signals on the same band simultaneously. The main and sub-receivers can be toggled easily as the main and sub-receivers have identical components.
High stability TCXO unit
The Icom IC-7600 provides 0.5ppm frequency stability using a high stability temperature compensate crystal oscillator (0XC to +50XC). This high stability TCXO unit offers stable operation even during RTTY mode or PSK 31 mode operation.
5.8 inch ultra-wide viewing angle TFT display
The Icom IC-7600’s display features ultra-wide viewing angle providing excellent colour gradation reproducibility and a high contrast ratio at virtually any viewing angle. This improves the readability of the screen, regardless of installation position. In addition, as the response time is almost constant at all colour gradations, the display provides smooth and natural movement in the spectrum scope. The white LED backlighting offers faster start-up time, stable brightness and relatively longer lifetime.

Spectrum scope
The DSP unit dedicated for the spectrum scope greatly improves dynamic range, response time and frequency accuracy. The spectrum scope of the Icom IC-7600 also uses the digital IF filter incorporated with the DSP unit. The optimum resolution bandwidth is automatically selected according to the sweep bandwidth. In addition, the spectrum scope range can be set independently from the receiving frequency. You can monitor band conditions between the selected sweep edges (Max. 500kHz) in the fixed mode, as well as sweep a selected band width centred on the receiving frequency in the centre mode.

Digital voice memory
The digital voice memory allows you to record incoming signal and replay the audio, a must-have item for DX hunting and contesting. The Icom IC-7600 has dedicated “Rec” and “Play” buttons on the front panel for immediate access. The time-shift playback function allows you to start saving the incoming signal from the immediate preceding 15 seconds before pushing the button (useful for checking a call back). The IC-7600 has a 4 channel transmit memory (max 90 seconds per channel) and 20 channel receive memory (Max 30 seconds per channel, total 200 seconds with 20 channels). In addition, the recorded incoming signal can be saved on a USB flash drive.
Multi-function meter
The multi-function meter allows you to grasp the transmit/receive conditions at a glance. In addition to the signal strength, transmit power level, ALC, compression level and SWR meters, the Icom IC-7600 shows the drain terminal voltage of the final amplifier (Vd), the drain current of the final amplifier (Id) and temperature of PA circuit (TEMP).
RF speech compressor
The digital RF compressor boosts average RF output power, whilst improving signal strength and readability.

RTTY/PSK31 operation with a USB keyboard
By plugging in a USB keyboard, the Icom IC-7600 allows you to start transmitting RTTY and PSK31 modes as well as receiving. The digital twin peak filter reduces interference from other signals between the receiving tones. The tuning indicator helps you to zero in on a signal. In addition, a total of 8 channels of RTTY and PSK transmit memory stores up to 62 characters of often-used messages for each channel.
User programmable band edge beep
You can program the band edge not only according to the amateur radio band plan but also more specific frequencies like contest frequencies, CW operating mode, etc. If you try to operate on the OFF band, the band edge alerts you with a beep sound. You can also set to inhibit the transmission in the OFF band.

Triple band stacking register
The triple band stacking register quickly memorises and calls up the operating frequency and mode for 3 channels on each band. Just push the band key button (ten-key pad), and you can call up the last operating frequency and mode. This function is convenient especially when switching bands during contests, etc.
Built-in memory keyer
A built-in memory keyer provides 4 channels for CW mode and 8 channels each for RTTY and PSK31 modes, capable of storing up to 70 characters for each mode. The memory keyer is useful for sending CQ or exchanging numbers during contests, even during regular operation, it stores your rig name, antenna, etc. When connecting a USB keyboard, memory keyer (including RTTY and PSK memory) can be sent with a Function button on the keyboard.

USB connectors on the front and rear panel
The Icom IC-7600 has USB connectors, one each for the front and rear panel. You can connect a USB keyboard or USB flash drive on the front panel (type A plug) and your PC on the rear panel (type B plug). The IC-7600 can be controlled by a PC through a USB cable using the CIV data format. In addition, modulator and received audio can also be transferred over the USB cable. By using appropriate external software, you can remotely control and operate the Icom IC-7600 from your PC.
*Software is not supplied from Icom at this time.

Microphone equalizer and adjustable transmit bandwidth
The built-in audio equaliser has separate bass and treble adjustments for a total of 121 combinations, so you can adjust the tonal quality of your voice as your want. In addition, the transmit bandwidth is selectable from 100, 200, 300, 500Hz at the low pass edge, and 2500, 2700, 2800, 2900Hz at the high-pass edge, respectively. Three types of high and low combinations can be stored in the memory as favourite settings. With this flexibility of DSP-based waveform shaping, transmit audio quality is adjustable to your preference.
High power final amplifiers
High-power FET transistors, RD100HHF1, are used in the PA unit providing excellent signal quality and low IMD characteristics. With a large heat sink and cooling fans, a reliable 100W with high duty cycle operation is offered during contests or data mode operation.

Additionally, the filter shape of the manual notch can be adjusted in three shapes, with more than 70dB attenuation.

Noise reduction
The 32-bit DSP processing power produces real results by separating a signal component from the noise with the 16-step variable noise reduction. By suppressing the noise components, an outstanding signal-to noise ratio is achieved, providing clear, clean audio in all modes without distortion of the target signal.
Noise blanker
The noise blanker reduces pulse noise such as engine ignition, with the fully adjustable 100 steps noise blanker.
Dualwatch function
The dualwatch function allows you to receive two signals on the same band simultaneously. The main and sub-receivers can be toggled easily as the main and sub-receivers have identical components.
High stability TCXO unit
The Icom IC-7600 provides 0.5ppm frequency stability using a high stability temperature compensate crystal oscillator (0XC to +50XC). This high stability TCXO unit offers stable operation even during RTTY mode or PSK 31 mode operation.
5.8 inch ultra-wide viewing angle TFT display
The Icom IC-7600’s display features ultra-wide viewing angle providing excellent colour gradation reproducibility and a high contrast ratio at virtually any viewing angle. This improves the readability of the screen, regardless of installation position. In addition, as the response time is almost constant at all colour gradations, the display provides smooth and natural movement in the spectrum scope. The white LED backlighting offers faster start-up time, stable brightness and relatively longer lifetime.

Spectrum scope
The DSP unit dedicated for the spectrum scope greatly improves dynamic range, response time and frequency accuracy. The spectrum scope of the Icom IC-7600 also uses the digital IF filter incorporated with the DSP unit. The optimum resolution bandwidth is automatically selected according to the sweep bandwidth. In addition, the spectrum scope range can be set independently from the receiving frequency. You can monitor band conditions between the selected sweep edges (Max. 500kHz) in the fixed mode, as well as sweep a selected band width centred on the receiving frequency in the centre mode.

Digital voice memory
The digital voice memory allows you to record incoming signal and replay the audio, a must-have item for DX hunting and contesting. The Icom IC-7600 has dedicated “Rec” and “Play” buttons on the front panel for immediate access. The time-shift playback function allows you to start saving the incoming signal from the immediate preceding 15 seconds before pushing the button (useful for checking a call back). The IC-7600 has a 4 channel transmit memory (max 90 seconds per channel) and 20 channel receive memory (Max 30 seconds per channel, total 200 seconds with 20 channels). In addition, the recorded incoming signal can be saved on a USB flash drive.
Multi-function meter
The multi-function meter allows you to grasp the transmit/receive conditions at a glance. In addition to the signal strength, transmit power level, ALC, compression level and SWR meters, the Icom IC-7600 shows the drain terminal voltage of the final amplifier (Vd), the drain current of the final amplifier (Id) and temperature of PA circuit (TEMP).
RF speech compressor
The digital RF compressor boosts average RF output power, whilst improving signal strength and readability.

RTTY/PSK31 operation with a USB keyboard
By plugging in a USB keyboard, the Icom IC-7600 allows you to start transmitting RTTY and PSK31 modes as well as receiving. The digital twin peak filter reduces interference from other signals between the receiving tones. The tuning indicator helps you to zero in on a signal. In addition, a total of 8 channels of RTTY and PSK transmit memory stores up to 62 characters of often-used messages for each channel.
User programmable band edge beep
You can program the band edge not only according to the amateur radio band plan but also more specific frequencies like contest frequencies, CW operating mode, etc. If you try to operate on the OFF band, the band edge alerts you with a beep sound. You can also set to inhibit the transmission in the OFF band.

Triple band stacking register
The triple band stacking register quickly memorises and calls up the operating frequency and mode for 3 channels on each band. Just push the band key button (ten-key pad), and you can call up the last operating frequency and mode. This function is convenient especially when switching bands during contests, etc.
Built-in memory keyer
A built-in memory keyer provides 4 channels for CW mode and 8 channels each for RTTY and PSK31 modes, capable of storing up to 70 characters for each mode. The memory keyer is useful for sending CQ or exchanging numbers during contests, even during regular operation, it stores your rig name, antenna, etc. When connecting a USB keyboard, memory keyer (including RTTY and PSK memory) can be sent with a Function button on the keyboard.

USB connectors on the front and rear panel
The Icom IC-7600 has USB connectors, one each for the front and rear panel. You can connect a USB keyboard or USB flash drive on the front panel (type A plug) and your PC on the rear panel (type B plug). The IC-7600 can be controlled by a PC through a USB cable using the CIV data format. In addition, modulator and received audio can also be transferred over the USB cable. By using appropriate external software, you can remotely control and operate the Icom IC-7600 from your PC.

Microphone equalizer and adjustable transmit bandwidth
The built-in audio equaliser has separate bass and treble adjustments for a total of 121 combinations, so you can adjust the tonal quality of your voice as your want. In addition, the transmit bandwidth is selectable from 100, 200, 300, 500Hz at the low pass edge, and 2500, 2700, 2800, 2900Hz at the high-pass edge, respectively. Three types of high and low combinations can be stored in the memory as favourite settings. With this flexibility of DSP-based waveform shaping, transmit audio quality is adjustable to your preference.
High power final amplifiers
High-power FET transistors, RD100HHF1, are used in the PA unit providing excellent signal quality and low IMD characteristics. With a large heat sink and cooling fans, a reliable 100W with high duty cycle operation is offered during contests or data mode operation.

Icom IC-7600 HF/50MHz transceiver is enhanced with some of the main features tried and tested on our flagship IC-7700/7800 models, highly regarded by Amateur operators world-wide. Add over 45 years of analogue RF circuit expertise and the result is the Icom IC-7600, a new rig with outstanding performance and a multitude of innovative features including a newly employed double conversion superheterodyne system and dual DSP units and 3kHz IF (roofing) filter.

To celebrate the launch of the Icom IC-7600 HF+50MHz Transceiver, Icom UK will be giving a free USB Black keyboard with each Icom IC-7600 sold, for a limited time only! The Icom IC-7600 enables users to send RTTY/PSK31 messages directly entered by a connected USB keyboard. This promotion will emphasise this capability and encourage CW/phone enthusiasts to try this method.
Dual DSP for transmit/receive and spectrum scope
The Icom IC-7600 is powered by two 32-bit floating point DSP units for Transmit/Receive and spectrum scope. The DSP units provide high performance comparable to Icom’s top-of-the-line transceivers IC-7800 and IC-7700. The Icom IC-7600 achieves similar performance for high speed digital signal processing combined with Icom’s analogue RF technologies.

104dB dynamic range and +30dBm third order intercept point (IP3)
Icom’s long years of analogue RF circuit experience combined with the latest digital technology results in an astonishing 104dB receiver dynamic range and +30dBm IP3 in the HF bands without sacrificing to the receiver sensitivity. Even a weak signal adjacent to strong signals is received by the Icom IC-7600.
Double conversion superheterodyne dramatically improves inband IMD
The Icom IC-7600 employs a double conversion superheterodyne system, which has an image rejection mixer for the 2nd mixer stage. When compared to the triple conversion system, the double conversion system is technically difficult to achieve a stable mixer operation but it dramatically reduces signal distortion through IF processing and provides a high-fidelity signal to the DSP unit. As a result, the Icom IC-7600 provides a clearer, more distinct signal.

The AGC loop management controlled by the DSP unit
The Icom IC-7600 detects the AGC voltage from the signal which has passed the digital IF filter. That means the Icom IC-7600 prevents the AGC blocking from a nearby strong signal to bring out the full potential of the digital IF filter. The digital IF filter and manual notch filter are also processed in the AGC loop.
Three 1st IF filters, including 3kHz bandwidth
The Icom IC-7600 has three 1st IF filters (roofing filters) in front of the 1st IF amplifier stage. You can select an appropriate filter width from 3kHz, 6kHz and 15kHz filter depending on operating mode. (15kHz fixed for FM mode). The 3kHz 1st IF filter protects the subsequent stage from the influence of nearby strong stations.
Digital IF filter
Icom IC-7600 incorporates the ‘build your own’ filter feature. This allows the operator to adjust filter shaping (sharp or soft), filter bandwidth, and centre frequency characteristics, without missing the action. Multiple filter memories store the last used filter settings by used operation mode. This allows the operator to quickly switch filters for constant operating conditions, such as in a contest.
Digital twin PBT
Once the IF filters have been tweaked, the operator has additional control with the digital twin Passband Tuning (PBT). The digital twin PBT allows flexibility of the IF shift and narrowing of the digital IF passband in moving the IF passband. With the digital IF filters, PBT performance allows you to cut away all the interference and noise to hear the actual signal.
